NEW DELHI: In a major disaster for group India in front of oddball Test against England,
its red-ball chief Rohit Sharma has tried positive for COVID-19, affirmed the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Sunday.
Sharma tried positive for the infection following a RAT on the third day of the warm-up match in Leicestershire.
The fifth Test among India and England is booked to be played oJuly 1 in Edgbaston.
It is the last round of the five-match series between the two nations which was delayed because of COVID-19 last year.
Taking to Twitter, the BCCI said:
He is right now in detachment at the group lodging and is under the consideration of the BCCI Medical Team.”
