West Indies have been the member of ICC since the start. The West Indian Cricket Team has Test status by the ICC because in the history of cricket first match was played by West Indies  against England  at Lord s, London, 23-26 June 1928.  After that, cricket was popular among the people and they started loving their representing teams.

West Indian Cricket Team is the best in his own and known as the strongest one in cricket world. West Indian Team has maintained his position both in ODIs and Tests at the top seats of list in ranking. The West Indies have won the ICC Cricket World Cup twice, in 1975 and 1979, the ICC World Twenty20 once, in 2012, the ICC Champions Trophy once, in 2004, and were runners up in the Under 19 Cricket World Cup in 2004. The first Cricket team to win the World Cup twice, their record was surpassed by four World Cup wins by Australia, and equalled by India in 2011. West Indies are also the first team to win back to back World Cups, since surpassed by three consecutive World Cup wins by Australia (1999, 2003 and 2007). West Indies is the first team to appear in three consecutive World Cup finals (1975, 1979 and 1983).

After all these achievements, West Indian Team was dominating and this was all because of the retirements of their best players. But recently West Indian Cricket Team has been up to the mark and now returning back to his positions in every department of Cricket.
